Persistence!

The hero in the film The Founder sums it up so beautifully with the word perseverance.

Nothing in the world can replace good old perseverance. Not talent. Because there’s nothing we see more often than unsuccessful people with talent. Not knowledge. Because there’s nothing we see more often than unsuccessful people with a lot of knowledge. And not education either. Because the world is full of educated fools.

I’ve always been a big fan of founder stories. The story told in „The Founder“ about the founder of McDonald’s is one of the best, in my opinion. Because it encompasses everything: all facets of life, the spirit of invention, and, last but not least, the joy of hard work.

The two McDonald’s brothers in San Bernardino invented fast food. They eliminated everything superfluous and focused on what made money. But that alone wasn’t enough as an effective theory for its widespread adoption. It was Ray Kroc who turned the many technological factors, all of which were brilliant developments—the Speedee system, self-service, instant milkshakes, and the franchise system—into a world-class company.

This film has it all: setbacks, inventiveness, the entrepreneurial spirit, USP, lean, pivot, and vision.

The vision is particularly clear.

It’s the grace that fascinates us about a vision, I think. It’s the grace that sells, that defines the power of a vision. The desire of everyone involved in pursuing a vision to see that vision fulfilled. The courage inherent in the word „grace“ shines through in a narrative.
